Britain saves America: Jamie Oliver's Revolution
May I please refer you to Jamie Oliver's website, where you'll find the following excerpt....
"Make only a few small changes and magical things will happen. Switching from processed to fresh food will not only make you feel better but it will add years to your life. "
A simple mission statement if I ever heard one, and a key ingredient in the recipe the people like Jamie Oliver and companies like Peeled Snacks are attempting to whip up: the ingredient of an easy solution.
I should offer that I'm not sure if Jamie Oliver would actually like Peeled Snacks. I assume he'd be okay with what we're doing, but you never know. If his television program he comes across as affable if committed, and I think we'd get along (especially if I cooked him my beans and polenta dish, YUM). But after seeing a few episodes of "Jamie Oliver's Food Revolution, I can assert that Peeled Snacks likes HIM, and feels strongly that what he's after, we're after too.
I'm pleased to find in his program a recurring equation: eating crappy, processed food seems like it's EASY, like it's SAVING you time, but in fact it's BURNING a person's time, AND his/her LIFE. Large CPG companies that produce food-like substances pretend that the convenience of processed food improves life by saving time. JO asserts clearly that those products do just the opposite.
It's kind of all about "TIME", isn't it? You want to make dinner for the kids, and you don't want it to take much time, so you throw a little pre-packaged pasta sauce on the burner and, BAM, everyone's fed. But how much time down the road are you wasting? How much more time would be gobbled up by shopping for and chopping up a few vegetables instead? How much life would you save? Of yours, and your kids?
Peeled Snacks, of course, tries to save you TIME, but without squandering your health. We offer convenience and ease, but with the added upside of something really good for you, something REAL. Products like ours can, I hope, join the ranks of Oliver's revolutionaries. We certainly aspire to live up to his standard of ease and value through better food. Catch an episode of two and you'll quickly see what I'm talking about. I don't watch much TV, usually seeing it as a waste of time, but Jamie Oliver's Food Revolution is clearly a "time-waster" that'll save people that embrace the message a lot of time down the road.
-Peeled Skinny, who will cease to watch ANY TV after the impending LOST finale', hurrah!
